Learn how to break into the field and gain mentorship from professionals working in elite sports and performance environments.

Dedicated to educating, mentoring, and empowering the next generation of Sports Dietitians.

The Academy helps students and dietetics professionals build the knowledge, confidence, and connections needed to excel in sports and performance nutrition through expert-led education, real-world insights, and professional mentorship.

The Academy for Sports and Performance Dietitians was created to bridge the gap between education and real-world practice in sports nutrition. Too often, students and early-career professionals are taught the science but not how to actually apply it in elite performance settings or navigate the path into the field.

Through years of mentoring and working closely with aspiring Sports Dietitians, I’ve noticed a common pattern: many people get in their own way. They wait for the “perfect” position, doubt whether they’re good enough, or feel like they need more experience before they can start. In reality, growth in this field comes from action, experience, and guidance, not perfection.

This Academy was built by Sports Dietitians who are actively working in the industry to change that. It exists to provide clear guidance, practical tools, and honest insight into what it truly takes to become and grow as a Sports Dietitian from the classroom, to internships, to working with athletes at the highest level.

Emily Kaley is a veteran Performance Dietitian with experience working on the ground with professional, collegiate, and Olympic-level teams, including MLB, NHL, WNBA, NBA and Team USA. She brings insider, real-world knowledge from inside elite sport, having built and implemented sports nutrition programs directly within performance settings.

She specializes in translating sports nutrition science into practical, performance-driven strategies that athletes and teams can apply immediately. Emily has developed programs from the ground up, supporting athlete fueling, recovery, and overall performance across high-demand environments. With a background in culinary school, she also bridges the gap between nutrition science and real-world food application in performance settings.

A lifelong athlete, Emily earned her black belt at 15, served as a soccer captain, and played lacrosse in college. She has also competed in the New York City Marathon and HYROX NYC, giving her firsthand understanding of athlete demands.

In addition to her professional work, Emily has been mentoring aspiring and early-career dietitians for over 10 years. Through The Academy for Sports and Performance Dietitians, she is committed to bridging the gap between education and elite sport with clear guidance, practical tools, and honest insight into what it truly takes to succeed in sports nutrition.
